Wedding Cubic Zirconia

C
Cubic Zirconia is a truly remarkable man-made “diamond.” At a fraction of the cost of a diamond, Cubic Zirconia is a brilliant and dazzling flawless jewel that cannot be visually distinguished from a perfect mined diamond. It is created using minerals extracted from the earth and then melted at a constant temperature of more than 5000 degrees Fahrenheit, then cooled to form crystallized diamond-brilliant, rough cubic material that can be cut and polished to the same specifications of gem-quality diamonds.

Cubic Zirconia is a wonderful choice for wedding jewelry and honeymoon jewelry. Choose a high quality setting of Sterling Silver or 14kt gold for a fine jewelry look, as the setting makes all the difference in the appearance of the stones. Whether you wear Cubic Zirconia instead of diamonds or with your other diamond jewelry, it will be a brilliant look.

If you are considering Cubic Zirconia for long-term wear, the best setting option is 14kt gold, a durable and long lasting metal. (Cubic Zirconia is usually not available in 18kt gold or Platinum because they are more expensive metals, but they would be a great metal choices as well). Sterling Silver is a popular choice for jewelry, but when considering rings, is too soft for a lifetime of everyday wear. Cubic Zirconia set in Vermeil (gold layered over silver), is a great choice for travel jewelry or special occasion jewelry, but not for daily wear.

Cubic Zirconia

  • will not fade, cloud, or discolor
  • is colorless and flawless, just like a perfect diamond
  • no visual differences between Cubic Zirconia and high-quality diamonds
  • cleans the same as diamonds (ammonia/water, jewelry cleaner, ultrasonic)

Jewelers use the 4-C’s (Color, Clarity, Cut, and Carat) to determine the quality of a diamond, which can also be used to compare a Cubic Zirconia to a diamond:

Color: Cubic Zirconia is colorless, just like a perfect diamond. It is also available in all diamond colors, including canary, champagne, pink, red, green, and blue.

Clarity: Cubic Zirconia if flawless, just like a perfect diamond.

Cut: Cubic Zirconia has the same cubic structure as a diamond and can be cut to the same specifications as a diamond. A high quality finished Cubic Zirconia will have the same amount of facets as the diamond cut and will be fully polished. Low quality Cubic Zirconia stones are not fully cut and polished and will not be as brilliant.

Cubic Zirconia can be cut in all diamond shapes, including the most popular round brilliant cut and square princess cut.

Carat: Cubic Zirconia is available in any size. Diamond size is measured by carats, a unit of weight. Although there are ideal proportions for cutting diamonds, diamonds are cut to take the best advantage of the rough diamond crystal, so two separate one-carat brilliant cut diamonds may weigh the same, but not look like exactly the same size. Because Cubic Zirconia is 60% heavier than a diamond, Cubic Zirconia is not sold by carat weight, but by carat equivalent to an ideal cut diamond.

Generally, if a Cubic Zirconia is cut and set like a diamond, it will look like a diamond, whereas a poorly cut and set Cubic Zirconia will not look “real.”

Cubic Zirconia is worn by many famous and wealthy people, including royalty, movie stars and TV personalities as an alternative to diamonds. There is no need to insure Cubic Zirconia or keep it in a safe deposit box. You can buy multiple pieces of jewelry at a fraction of the cost of what the “real-thing” would cost.

Many people wear Cubic Zirconia and diamonds together, and you can’t tell one from the other. Cubic Zirconia is also great for travel jewelry, when it might not be safe to bring your diamond jewelry, which is not only more expensive, but usually more sentimental.

Cubic Zirconia is set in both classic and fashionable designs for rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, and anklets. Cubic Zirconia is a great option for wedding jewelry.
